Philokrono: noun’ ‘love for the passage of time’. This clock transmits calmness and serenity, contrasting the frenetic routine of everyday life. The clock’s face, a 2D printed faceted pattern, combined with its clever thickness, creates a shadow on the wall, giving the illusion of being a 3-dimensional icosahedron. The platonic-solid shape is recreated through a visual illusion that will force your mind to stop and contemplate this form. The inspiration came from the Neoplatonic esoteric culture, seeking spirituality through science and knowledge, representing ‘perfection’. Following lengthy research, the concept is based on an obsessively purist approach, where all base-shapes are triangles, platonic mathematical forms representing perfection.
